X-Ray Fluorescence Analysis (XRF)

X-ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy (XRF) is an analytical technique used to determine the elements present in a sample. In museums and the field of art conservation, XRF has numerous applications including identification and analysis of the following objects:

  • pigments in a painting or on polychrome sculpture
  • image metals or toners in photographic prints
  • metal sculpture
  • illuminated manuscripts
  • silver alloys
  • heavy metal pesticides in ethnographic collections
  • obsidian
  • ceramics

We are now pleased to offer XRF analysis (on-site or in our studio), education, and rentals.

The Bruker Tracer III-V+ can be rented by the day, week, or month.
